Please see below an obituary from Banbury Borough Secretary Robert Sharpe , for long standing Banbury Borough member Gerald Fountain. As well as playing for Banbury Borough, Gerald played for many years for the Oxfordshire Vice-President Bowling Association.

We wish to advise that our long serving member Gerald Fountain sadly passed away on Wednesday 18th March 2026
Gerald joined the Club in 1998 and from the offset became heavily involved in Club activities both on and off the green. This included, for a number of years, using skills in undertaking many Maintenance tasks. He was also heavily involved with Social Activities, for many years our regular "BINGO CALLER"
He became our Midweek Captain from 2004 to 2022. Upon his retirement from that position , along with becoming a "Life Member" way back in 2007, in recognition and appreciation of his services he was appointed to the prestigious position of "Club Patron".
Gerald's funeral service will take place at 2pm on Thursday 9th April at Banbury Crematorium, followed by his wake at our Clubhouse.
